Whitlock beats Cross in Auckland

Simon Whitlock beat Rob Cross 10-7 in the quarter-finals of the Auckland Darts Masters in New Zealand. Both players performed well with Whitlock taking the last three legs after the match was locked at seven apiece. The Australian fired in four 180s and took out finishes of 130, 126, 80, 74, 68 and 64, averaging 99.43. Cross managed five 180s with finishes of 126, 91, 90, 86 and 78, averaging 97.61.

 

Cross fought back from 5-4 down to advance to the quarter-finals with a 6-5 victory over John Hurring, hitting two 180s, finishes of 150 and 78, averaging 87.52. Hurring missed two match winning darts at double top having hit one 180, a 90 finish and averaged 88.03.

Smith fights back to beat Cross in Melbourne

Michael Smith came from 9-6 down to beat Rob Cross 10-9 in the quarter-finals of the Melbourne Darts Masters in Australia by taking out finishes of 120, 107, 99 and 122 in the last four legs having posted a 132 check-out earlier in the match. Smith also hit three 180s and averaged 100.33. Cross hit four 180s, took out finishes of 150, 87, 84, 82 and 70, averaging 96.57.

 

In the opening round Cross beat Haupai Puha 6-2, hitting one 180, finishes of 76 and 74, averaging 92.74. Puha also hit one 180, an 82 finish and averaged 91.86.

Voltage beats MvG to win Brisbane Masters

World champion Rob Cross won the Brisbane Darts Masters at the BCEC in Australia with wins against Tim Pusey, Corey Cadby, Peter Wright and Michael van Gerwen. A full round-up is here.
