Euro Tour 9

Friday 1st September 2017 - Sunday 3rd September 2017

After a four week break since the last Players Championship events in Barnsley, Rob Cross was back in action at the Dutch Darts Masters (Euro Tour 9) in Maastricht, playing with new darts and under a new nickname 'Voltage'.

Cross was seeded 15th and received a bye to the Second Round where he played Jamie Lewis. Cross put in a superb performance against Lewis, winning the match 6-1, hitting five 180's and averaging 105.58. Voltage opened up with a 75 checkout in a 15 dart leg then hit his first two maximums in the second leg as he took out double four to complete a 14 dart leg and extend his lead. The third leg also went the way of Cross, taking out double nine for a 17 darter. A high scoring fourth leg saw both players hit maximums with Lewis checking out on 41 for an 11 darter with the Hastings man left on 58 after throwing just nine darts. Cross sealed victory by taking out the final three legs in 13, 14 and 16 darts to advance to the Third Round where he played second seed Peter Wright.

In his Third Round match against the current world number three Cross opened up with a 14 dart leg, taking out 57. Wright then levelled in 16 darts. Cross opened up the third leg with a 180 and took out double top for a 13 darter to go back in front. Wright responded with a 15 dart leg, finishing on 96 (20, D18, D20) with Cross left on 58 after twelve darts. Snakebite then broke throw for the first time in the match with a 15 dart leg and held the next in 16 darts to open up a 4-2 lead. Cross then missed darts at doubles in the seventh leg as Wright went out in 18 for a second break of throw. Voltage then took out 87 (17, T20, D5) in a 15 dart leg to break back but poor scoring in the next saw Wright take out 76 (20, 16, D20) to advance to the Quarter-Finals with a 6-3 win. Cross hit three maximums and averaged 94.48. Wright averaged 92.84.

Cross picked up £3,000 prize money.
