Early exit in World Series of Darts Finals

Jamie Lewis edged out Rob Cross in the second round of the bwin World Series of Darts Finals in Vienna, Austria with a 6-5 result after erratic performances from both players. Only one of the first seven legs were won in 15 darts or less as Cross lead 4-3. Lewis then took out 121 for a 15 darter to level, Cross responded with seven perfect darts from 381 to go back in front then Lewis had 11 and 13 dart legs to win the match. Lewis hit five 180s and averaged 88.69. Cross hit two 180s, took out a 112 finish and averaged 85.31.

Suljovic ends Grand Slam hopes

Third seed Rob Cross lost 10-7 to Mensur Suljovic in the second round of the 2018 bwin Grand Slam of Darts at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton.

 

This was Cross' fourth straight defeat against the Austrian who took out finishes of 116, 96, 92, 76 (twice) and 74, averaging 93.63

 

Cross hit six 180's n the match, took out finishes of 130, 88 and 80, averaging 92.23

 

'Voltage' made it to the second round with three wins from three matches in the group stage.

 

Cross had a 10 darter in his 5-2 win against Mark McGeeney, hitting two 180s, an 87 finish and averaging 87.49. McGeeney also hit two 180s and averaged 79.62

 

In his second win the Hastings thrower got the better of Dimitri Van den Bergh with winning legs of 16, 11, 14, 14 and 18 darts in a 5-4 victory, hitting two 180s and averaging 98.08. His Belgain opponent won legs in 13, 13, 12 and 15 darts, had a 106 finish and averaged 100.11.

 

In his final group match 'Voltage' beat Ryan Searle 5-2, winning legs in 14, 17, 15, 12 and 18 darts, hitting one 180, taking out finishes of 90 and 72, averaging 98.40. Searle won both his legs in 15 darts including a 70 finish on the bull. He also hit three 180s and averaged 86.66.

Reyes defeats Cross in Minehead

Cristo Reyes beat Rob Cross 6-1 in the first round of the Ladbrokes Players Championship Finals at Butlin's in Minehead as the world champions disappointing form continued. Reyes took out finishes of 112, 93, 87 and 76, averaging 96.98. Cross hit two 180s and averaged 93.72.

 

This was Cross' 100th defeat since joining the PDC Pro Tour in February 2017.

Cross crowded Sussex Sports Personality

Rob Cross is the 2018 Freedom Leisure Sussex Sports Personality of the Year.

 

The PDC World Darts Champion was announced as the winner of the prestigious award at the Grand Hotel in Brighton this evening.

 

The other nominations shortlisted for the award were cyclist Harriet Dodd and swimmer Kirsty Stewart. The evening was hosted by DJ Danny Pike who was joined on stage by Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards to present the awards.
