Last 128 (vs Eddie Dootson)
Despite back-to-back scores of 140 from 'Voltage' it was Eddie Dootson that won the opening leg of this match. Cross failing to close out the leg with six darts from 64 gave Dootson a chance and he took it by taking out 60 in a 17 dart leg. Cross fired straight back with a 12 darter, scoring 137, 140, 180 and taking out 44 to level the match at 1-1. Dootson won the third leg in 16 darts to regain the lead but from there it was all Cross as he took the next five legs in 13, 18, 13, 15 and 13 darts to advance to the last 64. The 18 dart leg was finished with a 100 outshot and the penultimate leg with an 87 finish. Cross hit four 180s and averaged 98.80. Dootson hit one 180 and averaged 85.44.
Last 64 (vs Jamie Bain)
Jamie Bain beat Sven Groen in the opening round 6-4, hitting four 180s, taking out a 104 finish and averaging 79.78.
Cross was in great form against Jamie Bain as he blitzed the opening four legs with finishes of 130, 145, 90 and 79, winning the legs in 12, 15, 14 and 15 darts. The closest Bain got down to a finish was when he had 88 on the board in the second leg. Bain got a little closer to winning the last two legs as Cross took his foot off the pedal and won them in 19 and 18 darts to move into the last 32 with a 6-0 victory. Despite such a dominant performance from the Hastings man, he failed to hit a maximum. His top score in the match was the 145 checkout. Cross averaged 96.67. Bain averaged 74.79.
Last 32 (vs Mickey Mansell)
Mickey Mansell made the last 32 with wins against Adam Hunt 6-2 and Vincent van der Voort 6-5, averaging 91.21 and 94.40.
